PAESI IN MOSTRA
Paesi in Mostra brings art to the streets. Using details from local artistic heritage, the project transforms historic centers into spaces of beauty and discovery. A way to rediscover hidden treasures of the territory and create new encounters between art and community.
THE ORIGINAL ARTWORK
The statue of Saint Michael, housed in the Mother Church, is a refined wooden mannequin from 1786. The Archangel wields his sword against the demon and is enriched with silver details: wings, helmet, footwear and armor that give solemnity to the work.
SAINT MICHAEL AND POMARICO
Saint Michael the Archangel is the Patron Saint of Pomarico, symbol of courage and protection. The devotion has deep historical roots: in 1757, during a famine, a mysterious merchant brought grain to feed the town. His ring was identical to the one missing from the saint's statue, confirming the miracle. Every May 8th Pomarico celebrates this event that unites faith and community.
