Studio Antani conceived and directed the opening performance of Matera 2026 — Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue: a monumental laser show that turned the ancient landscape of the Murgia into a living canvas of light.

The sounds of Mediterranean folk tradition, performed live by Pino Basile from the rocky spur of Montirone, were hybridised in real time with the electronics of Daniele Antezza and translated by Ultravioletto into generative laser streams across the Murgia: frequency becomes movement and colour.

The ancestral sound of the Mediterranean tradition and the algorithm that turns it into light become one and the same — and with them past and future, in Matera, converge into a single present.

A dialogue, analogue and digital, between artistic languages and the land. Sounds of the past becoming contemporary visions — monumental and open to all.
